【Y'2 Leather】IB-140 Indigo Horse Hide Type 1 Jacket
The Y'2 Leather "KB-140-T Kakishibu Persimmon Tanned Horsehide Type 1 Jacket" is a leather jacket inspired by the classic Type 1 denim jacket from the WWII era, crafted from uniquely innovative indigo-dyed horsehide technique.
The Y'2 Leather "IB-140 Indigo Horsehide Type 1 Jacket" combines traditional craftsmanship with modern design, making it a high-quality leather jacket that is both stylish and practical.
Typically, indigo dye is difficult to adhere to leather. However, after years of repeated trials by skilled tanners, Y’2 has successfully perfected the process of bonding indigo dye to leather. The base color of the leather is initially dyed to a shade resembling "natural" white color. As the indigo fades over time, this "natural" base color will gradually emerge, creating an effect similar to the fading of denim.
This jacket is made from approximately 1.3 mm thich horsehide, treated with a specialized indigo dyeing process. The bond between the leather and the indigo dye is remarkably stable, minimizing the risk of color transfer to other items while offering the ability of aging and fading with wear.
The jacket’s minimalist design preserves the iconic features of the Type 1 denim jacket, such as twin pleats on the front and a single chest pocket. To emphasize the natural texture of the leather, the design omits back pleats and side adjuster tabs, resulting in a cleaner and more streamlined look.
The interior is made of a blend of 80% cotton and 20% linen for enhanced comfort, while the sleeves are lined with durable nylon fabric for ease of wear. Brass buttons adorned with a laurel wreath motif are used on the front placket and cuffs, adding a vintage touch to the jacket.
